Lou Shuman, DMD, CAGS, is the Founder and CEO of Cellerant Consulting Group. Dr. Shuman is personally known for his expertise in internet strategy, strategic relations, emerging technologies, media relations, digital marketing methods, and operational practice management. Highly respected in the dental corporate and education communities, Lou is the only dentist who has been selected both as a "Top CE Leader in Dentistry" and a "Leader in Dental Consulting" by Dentistry Today. Lou offers dental industry clients the unique perspective of being a successful Senior Corporate Executive that is also a dental professional who has owned and operated a high‐volume high‐quality multidisciplinary dental practice.
Prior to founding Cellerant in February of 2016, Dr. Shuman served as President of Pride Institute, the prestigious dental industry practice management company, for six years. Before Pride, Lou was Vice President of Clinical Education and Strategic Relations at Align Technology for seven years, during which time the company grew to exceed $500M. He created Align’s Orthodontic and GP clinical programs, and was the professional and clinical lead on highly successful commercial projects, including the creation of Align’s Vivera retainers business. Also while at Align, Dr. Shuman integrated the Invisalign technique into orthodontic and dental school curriculums throughout North America including NYU, Harvard University, University of Illinois at Chicago, and the University of Texas at San Antonio, as well as into associations, institutes, and organizations including the ADA, AGD, The Scottsdale Center for Dentistry, The Pankey Institute, and The Dawson Center for Advanced Studies.
Prior to Align, Dr. Shuman was the Founder of rdental.com an internet based startup which created a state of the art Enhanced Educational Interface (EEI) engine. Before joining the industry side of the dental community Lou was the Owner / Operator of a 10‐doctor Private Group Practice where he specialized in adult orthodontics.
Dental Industry Contributions and Leadership Roles
Dr Shuman is the creator of the prestigious Cellerant Best of Class Technology Awards. This industry award, conducted and managed on a not‐for‐profit basis, relies on a selection process involving a panel of dentists recognized as technology experts, thought leaders and educators. Since the inaugural presentation in 2009, the Best of Class Technology Awards have grown to occupy a unique space in dentistry, by creating awareness in the community of manufacturers that are driving the discussion as to how practices will operate now and in the future. Serving the dental community, the Best of Class award provides an unbiased resource for dental professionals to make informed product and technology investment decisions.
The annual Best of Class Awards process culminates at the ADA Annual Session Technology Exposition Exhibit, which Dr. Shuman created and manages. The Tech Expo is largest exhibit at the ADA Annual Session providing three days of technology focused presentations by the field's leading experts in a 275‐seat classroom. In 2013 the ADA was honored nationally as providing the "the highest quality education on an exhibit floor" as a result of the Technology Expo curriculum.

Dr. Shuman is recognized as an outstanding speaker and educator and has lectured extensively throughout the United States, Canada, Europe, and Japan, including every major meeting in the US. His programs include topics on Social Media, Clear Aligner Orthodontics, Sleep Apnea, and Traditional and New World Marketing. He has been selected for fourteen years in a row as "One of the Top CE Leaders in Dentistry" in Dentistry Today magazine. As a guest lecturer at Gordon Christensen's LDS Annual Meeting he was cited as "one of the most influential dentists in the country today."

Dr. Shuman was also honored in 2014 by being selected from a prestigious pool of Dental Key Opinion Leaders to assist in the creation and hosting of the launch event for the Kavo Kerr Group.
He is the past owner of a 10-doctor private group practice where he specialized in Adult Orthodontics. He received his DMD degree and his Certificate in Advanced Graduate Studies in Orthodontics from the Henry M. Goldman Boston University School of Dental Medicine. Giving back to the community, Dr. Shuman recreated the mission of the Walt Disney 25th Anniversary Tour at its Boston venue. He single-handedly implemented a two day extravaganza for the underprivileged and hospitalized youth community in New England that eventually resulted in him receiving Walt Disney's most prestigious honor for "creating a new direction of purpose for their company."
Dr. Shuman's hobbies range from a passion for soccer where he played for a US National U-18 Team, and was sponsored both as a player and coach by Adidas, played in Europe, and went on to create his own soccer club in Boston with seven boys and seven girls teams that won many state titles and a National title. He was a finalist as Massachusetts Coach of the Year twice. When moving to DC he created an inner city soccer program with Adidas to provide organized soccer opportunities which created a number of college scholarships across the country.
An avid 12 string guitar player with a love of music, he started an audio video company out of his dorm room that went nationwide while he was still a student, and has remained in the industry ever since as a consultant.
He currently lives in the Fells Point area in Baltimore, Maryland and has two children with one attending Franklin and Marshall College in Pennsylvania, and one beginning his Master's program at Johns Hopkins in the fall.
